Authenticity and Leadership - The MBTI M Profile Assessment and Consultation
If you work in a business setting, you've likely taken the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), probably the most widely used assessment instrument of its kind with millions administered annually in the US, and more elsewhere around the world. It's an important tool in knowing yourself. But did you know that knowing yourself -- self-awareness -- is the necessary first step to authenticity and leadership? Authenticity and leadership matter -- for yourself, your family, your workplace and your community.
Put another way, authenticity is when your internal values and beliefs match well with your external behavior. How well do you know yourself, your values and your beliefs? How well do you accept that you must make choices and trade-offs in life? Do you define for yourself what you want or do you accept someone else's definitions of what's right for you? Good self-awareness includes motivation to lead, your learning styles and disagreement styles, and how you respond to change. Understanding these clearly and honestly helps you work better with others, enhances your flexibility, and gives you more confidence that you will achieve your goals and anticipate problems in the future.
